200 Series
Material Range
200 Series
200 Series – Nickel is the core for all Steel Products, however the post World War-II shortage of nickel led to nickel being substituted by Nitrogen in manufacturing of corrosion Resistance Steel and hence giving birth to 200 Series of Stainless Steel. High demand for low content Nickel Stainless Steel Products led to India becoming a major producer of 200-Series SS Products.
200 Series SS is used mainly because of its hardness and impact resistance when compared to 300 Series SS Products due to it’s higher Nitrogen Content. However it’s not appropriate in high moisture and chlorine environments, as it being less corrosion resistant due to lower Nickel and Chromium content when compared to 300 Series. It is an Austenistic Steel due to it’s non-magnetic characteristic. Overall when compared to other steel it is cheaper than 300 Series due to it’s low Nickel content but expensive than other Ferritic Metals.
applications
200 Series SS Products are mainly used in Household, Decorative and Food and Beverage Industries as its low corrosion resistance makes it unsuitable for other industries.
